Deadline to register for FEMA assistance is Sept 9

Nearly $15 million in FEMA funding is helping northwest Missourians recover from flooding and severe storms.

FEMA's national flood insurance program has paid $13.6 million to flood insurance policyholders in Buchanan, Holt, Andrew, Atchison, and Platte counties. The deadline to register for assistance is September 9. FEMA spokesperson Angela Byrd addresses how people who are affected by the flooding or storms can register for assistance.

"If you live in one of the 26 counties, especially for northwest Missouri where you have Holt, Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, and Platte - any of those counties, at least in this area, and your property did sustain damage the storms that occurred anywhere between April 29th to July the 5th, you're eligible to apply for disaster assistance.  And you'll be able to do so by the deadline which you can actually do yourself online at disasterassistance.gov or you can call and speak to a FEMA representative at 1-800-621-3362."

The deadline to register for FEMA assistance is next Monday, September 9. To register, you can call FEMA at 800-621-3362 or by visiting the website disasterassistance.gov.
